Although the Weather tool is its own type of marketing source in PSAI, you don't necessarily have to add a Weather widget to your website or launch a storm campaign on Facebook in order to take advantage of this technology. You can also generate an instant weather return and send it directly to any lead—all through the Com Portal.
Follow the instructions below to generate an instant weather return and send it to your lead.
You must be in an active email, SMS, or chat conversation in order to generate and send a weather report. If the lead has closed the chat widget or has unsubscribed from your SMS or email communications, then you will not be able to send a weather report.
1. Go to the Com Portal
Navigate to the Com Portal by clicking "Com Portal" from the left-hand column. Then use the search bar or filter tool to find the lead for whom you'd like to generate the weather return.
2. Click the Storm Icon at the Bottom
Once you've found the lead, click the storm icon located at the bottom of the messaging input field.
Remember that PSAI is mobile-friendly! That means you can generate a weather report on a tablet or smart phone, too. The icon is located in the same spot: at the bottom of the dialogue box, as shown below.
For quicker access to PSAI on mobile devices, have your team save a shortcut to their phones or tablets.
3. Fill in the Address as Necessary
On the "Generate Weather Report" panel that pops up, fill in the lead's address if the field is empty. If the lead already has an address associated with him or her, then the address will autofill for you.
Once you've filled in the address as necessary, click "Generate Report."
4. View and Send the Weather Report
After a few seconds, a weather report will be generated in the same pop-up panel, as shown in the screenshot below. This weather report shows the 5 most recent hail or wind events to touch that address.
From here, you can send the weather report directly to the lead by clicking "Add Message." This will place your weather report into the chat box, along with a default message at the top (highlighted in the red box below).
You can edit the default message by clicking into the field and typing your own message. Then click "Send" to send the message to the lead. The weather report will be sent through whichever channel you're currently communicating in: email, SMS, or online chat.
You don't have to send the message if you don't want to! If you're speaking to the lead on the phone, you can pull up the weather return following the instructions above and just refer to it verbally, without ever clicking "Send."
5. Refer Back to the Weather Report Later
Regardless of whether you send the report to the lead or simply refer to it internally, the weather return will be automatically saved to the lead's file. That means that at any time in the future, you and other PSAI users can easily refer back to the exact weather report that was sent.
To view a previously sent weather return, simply click into the "Contact Files" panel in the right-most column.
Clicking on the small weather return image that appears in the Contact Files panel will enlarge it for better viewing.
On the mobile view, the Contact Files panel can be accessed by clicking the three-dot "Options" menu at the top right corner.
Why send a weather report, you might be wondering? A homeowner who is already interested in improving their home will likely be even more interested if they find out that they may have suffered weather damage. A weather report can provide that gentle push the homeowner needs to schedule an appointment with you.
Seamless weather returns are just one way that the Com Portal makes it easier for your entire team to engage with leads. Learn more about communicating with leads in the Com Portal here.
